This stable Virginia inhabitant has a hardened base with elongated blades that are 5-10mm wide and 25-60cm long. The panicle is about ¾ height of plant, profusely branched. Tiny, diffusely dispersed small spikelets with greenish purplish tinges are spread among the inflorescence, 2-6 florets per spikelet. Graminoid growth pattern meaning “elongated culms with long, blade-like leaves.” Very small hairs on the grass blades may feel rough to the touch.
